Supporting Millienial Black Women in NonProfit Leadership

About

My name is JanQueshia Gay, LCSW-C

I am originally from southeast San Diego and have dedicated over a decade to supporting and mentoring youth. After earning my degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice at Morgan State University, I went on to complete a Master’s in Criminal Justice from San Diego State University during the early Black Lives Matter movement, where I recognized the urgent need for community change and support.

My career has spanned various roles in foster care, including group homes and mental health clinics, where I apply mindfulness and trauma-informed care. I later earned a Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland-Baltimore, focusing on creating supportive environments that encourage self-love, understanding, and growth.

In addition to working directly with youth, I have taken on leadership roles in the nonprofit sector, advocating for youth and oppressed populations. I am committed to equity and making a meaningful community impact, and I am currently pursuing a Doctorate in Social Work at Morgan State University. My research focuses on the experiences of Black women in leadership roles. Passionate about professional development, I find fulfillment in helping others grow while continuing to create impactful programs and systems.
